Content:

Landscape architecture today extends far beyond the design of gardens, parks, and squares. Influenced by current social, urban, and artistic developments, the profession continually opens up new fields of activity.

This course addresses complex planning tasks with diverse functional requirements—often in public spaces—while considering challenges arising from climate change and biodiversity loss. Depending on the project, students engage with social, architectural, urban, or mobility-related issues, sometimes within competitions or interdisciplinary collaborations.

Working across different scales, students explore analytical strategies and process-oriented design methods, developing the ability to translate theoretical approaches into individual design solutions.

Course content:

  • Theoretical engagement with current topics and strategies in landscape architecture

  • Application to a specific design task

  • Best-practice studies and case analyses

  • Site analysis and identification of potentials and deficits

  • Definition of planning goals and development of independent design concepts

  • Design development and visualization

  • Presentation of results
